Overview : Nayanthara is an Indian actress who mainly appears in South Indian films particularly in Tamil Movies.
Early life : This cute actress was born in Bangalore, in an Orthodox Christian family, who originally hails from Tiruvalla, Kerala. Her father was in Air Force, which made her upbringing in different North Indian cities. She attended various schools in North India and completed her schooling from Jamnagar, Gujarat and Delhi. She completed her graduation in English Literature Marthoma College in Kerala. She is originally known as Diana Mariam Kuriyan and was born on 18 November 1984.
Career : It all started with her part-time modelling career, which she did during her college. It was during these days when Sathyan Anthikkad spotted her during one of her modelling work and offered her a Malayalam movie – Manassinakkare. Earlier, she rejected this offer but later agreed with a plan of not doing any other movie. However, the film was a big hit, which gave her too many offers. She then accepted two films – Natturajavu and Vismayathumbathu in 2004, which were lauded for her performances.
Since then it was no looking for the actress and she did many movies. She soon entered into Tamil movie doing her debut with Ayya in 2005, while her debut in Telugu was witnessed with Lakshmi in 2006. Some of her Tamil and Telugu movies include Chandramukhi, Dubai Seenu, Tulasi, Billa, Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Aadhavan, Adhurs, Simha, Boss Engira Bhaskaran, Sri Rama Rajyam, Raja Rani, Arrambam, Thani Oruvan, Maya, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, Babu Bangaram and Iru Mugan.
Rewards & Recognition : She bagged IIFA Utasavam Award for the film Maya for the Best Actress category in 2015. In 2010, she won the award for her Contribution of Tamil Cinema for Kalaimamani from the award mentioned above the platform. She bagged Vikatan Awards twice for the Best actress category for films Naanum Rowdy, and Aramm. She then bagged Tamil Nadu State Film Awards in 2013 for Best Actress in 2013. For Filmfare South Awards, she was nominated too often and won awards in different categories for the films like Sri Rama Rajyam, Raja Rani, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, Puthiya Niyamam, and Aramm.
Personal Life : She was born as Syrian Christian, later converted into Hinduism in 2011 and then got her official name as Nayanthara. She is an ardent follower of Hinduism and thus pays visits to different religious places in India. She was alleged to be in a relationship with Silambarasan while she was working in Vallavan. Later Prabhu Deva was in a living relationship with the lady but as his wife reported the matter in the court and then threatened the actress to go on a hunger strike ended this relationship. While working in a film Naanum Rowdydhaan, she came close to its director Vignesh Shivan and is currently in relationship with him.
