Trisha Krishnan is an Indian actor and model who is often seen in South Indian films.
Early Life :
She was born Palakkad, Kerala in a Tamil Brahmin family but was raised in Chennai for her education. She completed her schooling from the Sacred Heart Matriculation School, Chennai, while later went on to pursue her Bachelor of Business Administration program Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai. She wanted to be a criminal psychologist but later gave up this aspiration for acting. She was born on 4th May 1983.
Career :
While she was in college, she came in touch with modelling and appeared in different beauty pageants winning Miss Salem in 1999, Miss Madras contest the same year and in 2001 bagged the Beautiful Smile Award in Miss India 2001. Soon she appeared in a number in different print and TV ads carving her niche in modelling. She was also seen in the music video of Falguni Pathak playing Ayesha Takia’s friend in the song – Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaye. Soon she got a film offer called Lesa Lesa from Priyadarshan, which opened her innings in Tamil film. This was during her college only when she had to manage both her studies and shooting together but she managed the two beautifully. She then got the Tamil film called Jodi in 1999 wherein she did the supporting role.
However, in 2002, she got her first lead role called Mounam Pesiyadhe, which was an average grosser. She gained recognition with her next two Tamil films – Saamy (2003) and Ghilli (2004), which did big business at the box office. One of the best performances in her career includes films Abhiyum Naanum (2008) and Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010), which gave her rewards and recognition in different film awards. Some of her recent movies include Yennai Arindhaal, Thoongavanam, and Bhooloham, while her Malayalam movie includes Hey Jude. She is currently busy doing three films, which include, Nayaki, Kodi and Bhogi.
Awards :
She has won several awards for her films, and some of the popular ones include Most Popular Tamil Actress for For Many Movies by Asianet Film Awards in 2015. She bagged Vijay Awards for two films – Unnakum Ennakum and Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya, Behindwoods Awards for Women achiever and the Best Actor Female for the films Thoongaa Vanam & Yennai Arindhaal to name a few. To be precise, so far in her career span of 18 years, she has won 46 awards both for films and her contribution in social work as well.
Personal life and Other works :
She is a no-nonsense person and hence lives with her mom and grandmother. She was engaged with Varun Manian in 2015 who is a Chennai-based entrepreneur, however, she later ended her relationship to focus on her work. She is also active in modelling and has appeared in different ads endorsing for various products and brands. Being an animal lover, she was Goodwill Ambassador of PETA and has been vociferous on animal rights. She is also the brand ambassador of Fanta India apart from other brands like Scooty Pep+, and Vivel Di Wills.
