Amala Paul is an Indian actress who is more active in the South Indian Film Industry.
Early life
Amala Paul was born on 26th October 1991 in Aluva, Kochi. She did her schooling from Nirmala higher secondary school, Aluva and later went to St Teresa’s College and completed her graduation in Communicative English. During her college, she got the chance to enter into the modeling world, which eventually led her to films.
Career
While she was pursuing her career in modeling, Lal Jose a known director offered her a supporting role in his film called Neelathamara in 2009. The film was a hit but it failed to give any good offer from the filmmakers that led her to choose some low budget movies like Vikadakavi, and Veerasekaran but failed to impress the critics. Both the films went unnoticed that led her to choose the controversial filmmaker Samy who is more known for his illicit behavior with lead stars.
She was the part of his controversial film called Sindhu Samaveli released in 2010. Though the film failed to attract the audience and some critics even didn’t rate it calling it to have a disgusting story, she was applauded for her performance. It went on to give her critically acclaimed applauds for the same.
Some of her early films include Mynaa, Ithu Nammude Katha, Vikadakavi, Deiva Thirumagal, Bejawada, Vettai, Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi, Love Failure, Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal, Akasathinte Niram, Run Baby Run, Naayak, and Iddarammayilatho to name a few. While her recent movies include Hebbuli, Achayans, Velaiilla Pattadhari 2, VIP 2, Thiruttu Payale 2, Nandhini, Rita, Dr.Shalini Raghuvaran, Agalya Selvam, Bhaskar Oru Rascal, and Raatchasan. She is currently filming Adho Andha Paravai Pola, Aadai, and Aadujeevitham.
Awards :
She has bagged a number of awards and few of these include Amrita-FEFKA Film Awards for the Best Actress in Tamil for the film Mynaa apart from winning two awards including Edison Awards (Best New Face), and Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress. The Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor – South, the Asiavision Awards for the category Best actress and Most desirable married women of Kollywood by Time of India to name a few.
Personal life :
While working with AL Vijay for his film Deiva Thirumagal, she was linked with him, but the couple always denied the same. Later she got engaged to Vijay in Kochi and got married in 2014 in Chennai; however, the couple separated soon and got the official divorce in 2017 on the issue of working in films.
