Dolly Thakore is an actress and theatre artist who hails from the UK. She is a stage actress and also casting director. She was born on 10th March 1943 in the UK in an Indian origin family. She did her schooling from London and later got trained as TV and radio with the giant group BBC London. While to start her career as a newscaster she headed to India. She then got the chance to be a TV host where she took interviews for many celebrities. She got recognition with Mumbai Doordarshan working as a News Speaker in English, which used to be aired on the said channel at 8 PM.
A majority of her career has been spent over the stage doing several plays which were authored by veterans like Tennessee Williams for the play Streetcar Named Desire, Arthur Miller for All My Sons, Harold Pinter for the play called The Birthday Party, and Edward Albee for the play known as Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf. She even was seen in Bollywood film by Madhur Bhandarkar called Page 3 playing White Noise. She also worked as a casting director and it started with the film Gandhi by Attenborough.
She roped in many Indian actors in the film which was released in 1982 along with carrying out the PR activities for the movie. Since then it was no stopping for the lady as she worked in many Bollywood and overseas ventures. These include Far Pavilions, Indiana Jones Kim, and the Temple of Doom, Such a Long Journey and Jinnah to name a few. She was also seen in a TV show called Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka in 2005. She also wrote reviews for different films and plays for many magazines and newspapers. Talking about her personal life, she was married to the adman Alyque Padamsee. The couple has a son Quasar Padamsee, who is also a theatre producer in Mumbai.
